I haven't heard the recorded version yet, since I can't seem to get my hands on the single, but I thought the live version wasn't all that special. He has done better b-sides indeed.

I haven't heard the recorder version yet You probably mean recorded version, but I just got a mental movie of how wonderful a recorder version of Adder would be. Bring back Leo Chadburn.

whoever said they didn't like the glips, beeps and environmental noises, doesn't know that almost all of his album tracks are layered with them. that is Patrick. most of the things are sampled and then edited from stuff he heard and recorded. that is Patrick. i don't know any other way of putting it.

I agree, both 'Underworld' and 'Adder' sound better on the pod cast/channel 4 video than on the 'Accident And Emergency' CD and it is often the case with Patrick Wolf. I think he comes up with amazing ideas, but somehow gets caught up in adding too many sound effects etc. Another example is the first recorded version of 'Bluebells' live in Germany (i think); it sounds amazing, but the re-worked lyrics and the over-use of environmental sounds get in the way of an amazing song. I'm not saying that the songs are ruined, but i think I prefer them in their simplified state. My good friend and I had a chat about this the other day, and I think you're absolutely correct.

Addrer definitely sounds better in the podcast. Then again, I'm a sucker for Patrick's electroness. Just the way he begins to jam near the end.
*sighs*

i think hearing the podcast version tainted my view of the album version. i don't really like it that much....but it's still good.

It's a b-side. B-sides don't go on albums.

Wow... Adder is one of my very favorites. It goes well with Godrevy point...
However... the song really reminds me of a far different *first* in my life...
Is it really Adder backwards? Amazing. I hear... "who's that?" like a curious snake........ in the beginning then some "Adders" backwards... then always hear "bite DOWN, deeper, deeper.." at the end...
and i thought the lyric was...
up to the little 'eye-eee-eeeeeee A OOOOOO
so c'mon now... what do you think this song is about?

funny thing happened: I dreamed about Patrick last night (I was in one of his shows). when I woke up I had "Adder" playing repeatedly in my head, I had to put it on. it's beginning to be one of my favourites as well. wish I could find the lyrics. anyone?

I used to play that song, as well as Underworld, in my empty bedroom of my new house, with the lights out. Rather surreal stuff.
