Bouncing all around, without a care and wild-eyed with a big mad smile on your face.
Although Accident & Emergency is like that too.

I kind of like driving around in the car listening to Bloodbeat.

I thought it was something to do with turning into a were-wolf lol, because I'm sure I've heard somewhere that were-wolves are meant to have black blood or something. I'm probably wrong though! Ix:D

I've always imagined it to be about feeling powerful and getting strength back after a difficult period. Also, I always imagined darkness and 1 light. But that's just because I listened to it once at night while walking to the bank and the bank was lit.

I seem to remember something from Silence of the Lambs, where Dr. Lecter says that blood appears quite dark, almost black, in the moonlight. Oh, yeah...this would be one of my all-time fave songs, ever.

I think it's about general darkness. The blackness of his blood and the blackness of the night. He's feeling some dark industrial beat in his soul. Although I do approve of the drugs and rape interpretation. Gold.

I have a memory that goes with this song: one summer there was this huge party at this park nearby there were a ton of people there and we had this giant bonfire and ran around in the dark with flaming branches and spun in circles and chased each other through the woods and read Marquis De Sade aloud and tortured snakes and I woke up in a row boat in the middle of the lake with a boy wearing a dress and a bottle of flat champaign. my friend V spent the night in a tree crying and hallucinating and her boyfriend was in another tree trying to calm her down.

Is that.. a real memory? Wow.
Because I am a nerd, sometimes when I think of bloodbeat, and I hear the line "My blood beats black tonight," I immediately begin to associate it with the Black family in Harry Potter. I know, it's horrible of me. I just keep thinking it would be such a great songfic.. One day, I'll do it. One dayyyy.
Okay, I'll shut up now.

Yeah its actually a real memory, as far as i know. Living in a place swarming with college students, drugs, parents who are rich enough to ignore what their kids do, and rebellious teenagers provides some pretty interesting experiences.
And I like the werewolves thing.

Well, I am big on the Harry Potter fandom... so it just seemed NATURAL to me to associate. In fact, I was introduced to Patrick via someone using him as the portrayed-by for a character in an RPG. My nerd-level rises by the minutttte, ahhhh. Do you think he'd be a Slytherin? That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought that at all... but maybe. I'm a Hufflepuff

I think he's a Ravenclaw. I dunno, it just fits so well. Surely not slytherin. He's too cutesy.
I'm a gryffindor. I've got the jacket to prove it. *nerd*

I think it's about Patrick. In a car. Zooming round the empty streets of some city. I'm not too imaginative... I've always wondered whether Patrick can drive or not. It said on his website a few years ago that he was learning... I just can't imagine him being the driving type though. More of a dedicated bicycler.

I think the rape reference is well tenuous. I think it's just thrill seeking, taking risks that are probably not a good idea but just because you want to feel that high. I think 'get in the car with both eyes closed" is just him being dangerous because it follows on "pedal down and I am speeding" I'm pretty sure it's just unnecessary risks for the thrill of it, I could see how it could be interpreted the other way though

personally, i think it's a song about new beginnings--kinda like ending a bad relationship and starting over--a new slate
"I wake at dusk to go alone without a light to the unknown"
it's an adventure; he's going somewhere alone without a light to the unknown.
"i want this night inside of me i want to feel i want this speeding i want that speeding"
he wants to bask in the new feeling of independence.
"no need for comfort no need for light i am hunting for secrets tonight Eat the sorrow lick the spark u h oh my blood beats dark"
he's looking to bring back happiness and excitement into his life. hunting for secrets/eat the terror/lick the spark = blocking out all the negativity in his life.
"And here it comes it comes for me i want to run i want to scream Get in my car with both eyes closed full pedal down And i am speeding!"
it's like getting in a car and driving fast; excitement. he wants it.
as for "blood beats black" black meaning darkness, and his blood beats it, maybe it's some reference to anonymity? again with the adventure concept, he's starting something new and he wants excitement from it. maybe drugs, but i think that'd be too much looking into the song...
overall, i think this song is about starting over and wanting more excitement in your life. i don't know where you guys got that rape thing from... but yeah.

same here. not sure about the rape thing.
"bloodbeat" is my favorite song off of "lycanthropy"
and i am a HUGE harry potter fan.
i actually think patrick wolf be in ravenclaw or slytherin (NOT SAYING THAT'S A BAD THING AT ALL!!), because he's very smart but also very mischevious.

One night, it was about 2am I think, I was at harbour of our capital. My friend came with his car, and picked me up. We grabbed random guy from the street to the car, I drove 2 hours away to the southernmost spot of the country, whole journey with high speed the roads were deserted. Then we stood there listening to mad wintery seagales. Jumped back to the car, my friend drove us back and I sat in the backseat talking with that random guy. We dropped him off to the railway station and he apparently took the train to some town far in the north where he was from.
Not an explanation of the song but it always reminds me of that night.
