Hah! teehee i bet they feel bad now but how can you hate pink on patrick? lol 576 members! take that evil bullies! in the end, patrick is laughing the loudest and hardest now. success is often a fine form of revenge. i'm sure those bullies (as they often do) aren't doing too much with themselves. that so often seems to be case.

That so many of us find it creepy just proves what a brilliant songwriter Patrick is. Self-experienced (which I hope not for his sake) or not, it's fantastically written.
This song is one of my favourites. The music is wonderful anyhow and combined with the fabulous, yet gruesome lyrics it becomes even better. (and the way patrick sings it is amazing...)
I especially love some of the instruments used here, the base thing in the beginning, the flute,...

The woodwind/recorder section is just annoying.
Doesnt fit.
Just seems like FUCKING fdfghjkKITCHEn sink syndrome to me.
Would be better without it.

For me it was the most outstanding track on my first listen of the album- but when i heard it the second time though i didnt see it as a song about paedophilia- more aout the way society and the 'grown ups' that run our world 'rape' the innocence from children *run run run from our law giving hands*.......its currently my screen name on msn (" I was still a child when you caught me etc."), which has sparked enough online hate mail for me to give garry glitter a run for his innocence, but hey- i can still relate to it.....

Patrick Wolf said, in a swedish interview, that the childcathcer isn't a song that is only about pedophiliea. What happens in the song happened Patrick at the age of 15, and he said: It's not like I was 5 when it happaned, I was 15 and I could have escaped it.
This leaves me with a lot of questions, what do you think?

The main thing about this song is the power.. the adrenaline rush i get when the music comes back in to "and if you can't run to save yourself" etc. is better than any drug and the mix of words and music is incredible..
best listened to all alone on a dark and quiet night at full volume.. its an amazing experience
but at the same time i feel it is too personal - its Patrick's experience not mine and it makes me feel evil and invincible. Not one to play to friends/outloud

hmmm I find the intense dissection of this song and its meaning a bit odd. Cos I could be utterly, totally wrong but I've always seen the song as black humour. I mean the deliberately way over the top theatrical vocals from Patrick and the silly lines "this is the age of constipation" and the over the top "I wrote your name in shit across the town" seem to suggest the song is playfully referencing a shocking subject like pedophilia, in order to get a reaction out of the listener (going by replies in the topic thats been achieved!) something along the lines of Belsen Was A Gas by The Sex Pistols or Little Boys by Devendra Banhart. Call me sick but I quite enjoy singing/dancing along to theatrical pop tune about pedophilia. I guess its a situationist thing.
Basically I think its silly dark humour and if it is meant to be a serious look at pedophilia I'm afraid personally I would have to say lyrically its quite poor cos its so OTT. I just enjoy the song as something silly, and a bit daring at the same time.
Musically however its a stormer, one of the best on Lycanthropy. I'd have to disagree with Jonny and say I love the woodwind/recorder bit. I love songs with numerous even seemingly disparate section (probably down to my love of the Beach Boys Smile sessions!) However anyone but me noticing a rather striking resemblance between this section and Golden Brown by the notoriously litigious Stranglers?!
