I absoloutly love the strings in paris, I want to listen to them over and over again and I wish I had the music for it. I think in this song, like all of Patrick's others, the mix of accoustic instruments and electronic sounds works so well and is just so scintillating. Ix:D

Me and my friend have been sitting here for half an hour trying to figure out what british advert sounds like the first 30 seconds of Paris. Anyone know which advert we're talking about? Because we have no idea and it's driving us insane!

Paris has unexplicably become my absolute favorite PW song this past few weeks. I used to not like how the violin clashed with the darker beats of the verses, but now I find it so beautiful.

Paris is my favourite Patrick Wolf song and probably my favourite song just in general. For some reason I haven't posted in this thread yet.
I know it's a bit off-topic, but has anyone else noticed how when he says 'Dear Anne came to me…' it sounds like he is saying 'Anna', and in Wolf Song when he says 'When Selene comes we'll all know how to fight…' it sounds like he is saying 'Selena'. It sounds like it so much both times, I swear that's what he actually says. But I've never seen it written like that in lyrics for the songs. Anyone else noticed this, or am I just insane?

Yes, I noticed this. I'm listening right now Paris at Motel Moizaique (2005) and I can listen so clearly Anna. I'll listen Wolf song later.

Does anyone have any idea how to play this?
I'm trying to work out the strings so I can change them into an accordion arrangement, but I'm not familiar with stringed instruments and my cello friend is currently away.

Um I really don't play mine much, because it's like from the 1920's, weighs a thousand pounds and I don't have a strap for support... BUT, I did figure out the beginning string part on the accordion once!!! Do you know keyboard/piano notes? Because that's basically what they are on the accordion keys... I got: E F G F E F G F E F G A G F E F... and repeat sorta.

the opening lyrics are probably my favorite set of lyrics. ever. they're so stirring and real to me.
it was seven in the morning, when the spark began to give; the bath was spilling over, my self pity spilling with it, so i, i fled the country, to start it all again; found myself in paris, in that cemetery rain...

dear anne (it wasn't me ) came to me and took me by the arm showed me old disasters embedded in the palm warned me of a lady with the sun behind her head. with a granite neck, a singer who can never sing again. That's the "lady", I think... Please may someone be kind enough to explain what this metaphor means. If it is a metaphor. Thankyou xx

Yes, Paris is awesome! It's the first PW song I figured out (for the most part) on the sax, so it has a special place in my heart. <33 I think it'd be EXTRA awesome live. o____________o
