I've got a really silly question, but ... i think it's the only place to expose it.
Mum, mum : Do you believe that the wolf is killed at the end ? ( you know the sound of the gun ...)

Oh man I remember when I first heard the 'Epilogue' it scared me at the end I wasn't expecting it. Well anyway to answer you question I did think the wolf died which was kind of sad

Interesting.
I'd never thought of it like that. In fact, I'd never thought of it as a gun - I always hear it as a rocket, because of the streaming screaming beforehand.
Very good question - looks like Lycanthropy could be the new Ninth Wave!

That might be a tip of the hat to "A Short Story" - did the wolf in that song get killed?

I'm not sure to understand your english culture references... sorry. But i think it 's, on the beginning, a firework, ok, sure; but when it exploses, the scream of the wolf trembles and ... dies ?
It's cute, because this sound always forced me to listen again the album each time ( when i listen it until the epilogue), because i don't want to let him die. Maybe I find myself an excuse to listen it again...

I don't consider last sounds of 'Epilogue' as a cause of death of the wolf. For me 'Prelude' is an invitation for us to come and watch/hear a life of the wolf. And this very last sound of the album reminds me of the sound of a broken tape and this prevents us from seeing/hearing anything more. That's not exactly what i wanted to say but my English is too poor to explain my thoughts properly

I agree with White Onyx Elephant, i always assumed that the gun shot was just the tape crackling and breaking up while Patrick was in the middle of singing. Then again, it does kinda sound like a firework with the screaming, and it'd make sense because the song is quite joyous and you can hear people laughing and talking near the end, kinda like a celebration.
Bah i can't make my mind up.

I think it is a firework! but it is interseting.
Someone should ask him if they are going to any of his gigs!

i would have said it sounds like a firework too, with the screeching at the begining and stuff, kind of sounds like you can hear a crowd aswell...

It has to be a firework...it sounds a lot like [maybe a little harsher] what are confirmed to be fireworks in Bluebells, doesn't it?
