I don't know about you guys, but I tend to see the world as one big movie I play the leading role in. And every good movie has a great soundtrack to match the pictures. If your life indeed was a movie, which songs would you add to the following 'scenes'?
Waking up: The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun First schoolday: Belle and Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap Falling in love: Yann Tiersen : Watching Lara Breaking up: Yann Tiersen - Le Moulin Living: Elastica - 2:1 Mental Breakdown: Radiohead - Last Flowers Till Hospital Getting up again after the breakdown: Patrick Wolf - Paris Getting back together with your lover: Leafcutter John - Seba The day you marry: La Valse D'Amelie, Version Orchestrale. The birth of your child : Debussy - Claire De La Lune Divorce : Rolling Stones - Angie The day you die : Radiohead - Videotape.
As you see, I filled mine in already.

Three Yann Tiersens? Your life can't be just like Amélie's, you know. Much as I'd like mine to be. I might do this later, I always like this idea.

Goodness this was difficult! But seeing as cinematic lifestyles must of course require equally cinematic soundtracks, I have thus assembled appropriate songs for each situation you've assigned. 'Twas good fun stabbing around in my itunes. Waking up: "First Song" by Andrew Bird First schoolday: "Rainbows in the Dark" by Tilly and the Wall Falling in love: "Delicate" by Damien Rice Breaking up: "We Get On" by Kate Nash Living: "Godrevy Point (XFM version)" by Patrick Wolf Mental Breakdown: "Our Trip" by The Thermals Getting up again after the breakdown: "Waste of Paint" by Bright Eyes Getting back together with your lover: "Lover, You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley The day you marry: "La Javanaise" by Madeleine Peyroux The birth of your child: "Thomas and Martha" by The Lucksmiths Divorce: "Ode to Divorce" by Regina Spektor The day you die: "Don't Be Scared" by Andrew Bird

'Twas good fun stabbing around in my itunes. Falling in love: "Delicate" by Damien Rice Getting back together with your lover: "Lover, You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley Divorce: "Ode to Divorce" by Regina Spektor I have huge love for all three of those songs ;D (and Paris and Godrevy Point obviously). This is really hard Especially since I'm trying not to repeat artists. Waking up: Scott Matthews - Dream Song First schoolday: No Doubt - Trapped In A Box Falling in love: Patrick Wolf - Get Lost Breaking up: Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor Living: Guillemots - Trains To Brazil Mental Breakdown: Damien Rice - Woman Like A Man Getting up again after the breakdown: N.E.R.D. - Wonderful Place Getting back together with your lover: Arcade Fire - Crown Of Love The day you marry: Patrick Wolf - Teignmouth The birth of your child: Tracy Chapman - Baby Can I Hold You Divorce: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Modern Romance The day you die: Long-View - Happiness In Lonliness

Getting up again after the breakdown: "Waste of Paint" by Bright Eyes That song would NOT help me recover from a breakdown. It's slowly leading me into one. Petra, note that I said "three Yann Tiersens" not "three songs from Amélie", but apologies for implying it? It was a joke. Bah.

This was really hard, even though I gave up on not repeating artists. I could make a life soundtrack using only Pulp easily- they sort of already are my life soundtrack.
Waking up: This is the Dream of Win and Regine –Final Fantasy First schoolday: Dogs are Everywhere- Pulp Falling in love: Disco 2000- Pulp Breaking up: Black-Hearted Boy- Fiery Furnaces Living: Brazil- Arcade Fire (cover) Mental Breakdown: Look At Her Face – The Coral Sea Getting up again after the breakdown: The Fallen- Franz Ferdinand Getting back together with your lover: Enchanted- Patrick Wolf The day you marry: Just Can’t Get Enough- Nouvelle Vague (cover) The birth of your child: Paris 1919- Final Fantasy (cover.) Divorce: They Suffocate At Night- Pulp The day you die: We Will All Go Together When We Go – Tom Lehrer
The hardest one to do was birth of child.. I can't think of what song I'd want for that.

Waking up: Los Campesinos! - Death to Los Campesinos! First schoolday: Belle and Sebastian - Expectations (I'm so negative, haha) Falling in love: Islands - Jogging Gorgeous Summer Breaking up: Joanna Newsom - Only Skin Living: Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over The Sea Mental Breakdown: Xiu Xiu - Clowne Towne Getting up again after the breakdown: Camera Obscura - Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken Getting back together with your lover: Stars - One More Night The day you marry: Magnetic Fields - The Book of Love The birth of your child : Arcade Fire - Wake Up Divorce : Parenthetical Girls - C-86 Is Killing My Life The day you die : Neutral Milk Hotel - Two Headed Boy
Can I include Funeral? If I were to have anything played it would probably be Epilogue or somethin'.

I grabbed another one, because I'm self-centered and wanted more questions. I still don't like this one, though.
Waking up: Under Pressure - David Bowie/Freddie fucking Mercury or Pigeon Song - Patrick Wolf Falling in love: I'll go with realreal love, and not the first. Dolores - Frank Sinatra & Tommy Dorsey. Breaking up: The Cactus Where Your Heart Should Be - Magnetic Fields (My ex made a mix, which is an AMAZING mix, about our relationship. This is the last song on it and meant as, Stop Being a Cactus Heart, Killoran.) Mental breakdown: Monochrome - Dominique A Getting up again after the breakdown: Overture - Patrick Wolf. Very autobiographical for me, probably just like every other kid who was unhappy ever. Getting back together with your lover: Love? - Strapping Young Lad big laughs and hijinks The day you marry: The Shining - Badly Drawn Boy, although I was there and nothing was played. The birth of your child: Not happening, but if it could Divorce: Um.. either Whisky Lullaby - Alison Krauss/Brad Paisley, The Scarlet Tide - Alison Krauss, orrrrr.. most likely Man Of The Hour - Pearl Jam.. most permanent for of divorce. Wah. Learning to love again: Enchanted - Patrick Wolf! or Cello Suite No. 1 - Yo Yo Ma playing Mr. Bach Fight Song: Danse Macabre - Camille Saint-Saens. Awesome. Partying: Wanna Mess You Around - Pavement Happy dance: Feels Like I'm In Love - Patrick Wolf version! Long night alone: Halelujah - Jeff Buckley The day you die: Komm Susser Todd - Arianne. That's all I can think of.
God that's lame. I need like.. specific times and whatnot or I just get frustrated. Wah. Life is hard.
