He's simply the best person to write music for games! I have a great desire to see his band, The Black Mages, live. That'd be awesome!
Japanese music outside of the Final Fantasy series.
I'm currently obsessing over about 20 Merzbow albums and I'm considering buying one of the Merzboxes with my friend when the student loans come through

haha way to use your student loans properly.
I'm not sure if it was them, but there are a few good bootlegs nicely decorated and such that are CD-Rs but really awesome, i'll have to do further research.
I want to be Keiji Haino's best friend...the end.

He has wonderful hair. And he's like the coolest guitarist ever. Kawabata Makoto also competes for that title, though...

No disrespect but Japan scares the shit out of me, and I really hope as one of the most advanced societies on Earth it isn't a precursor to what we can expect in Europe and America in the future.
Oh of course the interest in Japan here is based on Japanese culture and popular culture which is of course fascinating. I'm talking personally about the culture of the sort of hours these people work, and the levels of dedication and near religious reverence afforded to corporations..
I mean any country where businessmen top themselves upon facing a career set back has to have it's issues.. The Japanese people I've come across have been as fascinated and romantic about England as many young people are about their homeland here, so it shows the grass is always greener.

I can't believe I missed Acid Mothers Temple because I was sick! What the deuce.
Haino's outfits are pretty rad too.
And I didn't know there used to be a fourth member in Boris, have you heard anything when "Nagata" was on the drums?

Whats the point of having a paper thin television when working seven days a week doesn't allow you time to watch it and you're likely to die of Karoshi before the age of 35..

I like Utada Hikaru, Puffy and Shiina Ringo. OMG WTF I AM SO MAINSTREAM.
I do find it slightly irksome that so many people have an almost fetishised image of Japan. But I am feeling ranty and superior tonight, and I haven't eaten enough to form a coherent argument, so I'd best just stick to berating people for arguing in The Forum Forum and deleting topics willy nilly...
Cheerio, Michael. xxx
