Post old oregon trail memories, etc, and rave about your love for it and how much you miss it.
I'm so very tempted to put mine in the computer now, but don't want to risk this computer dying because of its virusness.
You all know you played it.

Oregon Trail had viruses??
Anyway, do they still sell the old one, and does it work on new computers?

Well, it went on my old computer that was killed by viruses. So I assume it has many of them on it. I don't exactly want to find out.
I don't think they still sell the old one, might be able to get it on ebay though? Dunno if it works on new computers.

I'm sure if you did some extensive google searching you could find it. I used to play Oregon Trail in 7th/8th grade computer class. But then never again. Woe!

I did nothing but hunt buffalo. I feel like I was solely responsible for their endangerment.

i played this in like 3rd grade, the black and white version. on computers that had no mouses, they were fucking antiques.
i only would hunt buffalo too. and pack wagons cause i liked planning things like that.
but then there was this kid who had anger management problems and he broke the floppy disk (lol) it was on the basterd. he also broke Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego (> oregon trail).
i have never beaten the game : (

I loved Carmen San Diego as well. I want to play it. It taught me how to spell, and things. I think I have it. I'm looking.
Yes! Carmen SanDiego's Gret Chase Through Time!
Also, Roller Coaster Tycoon. I used to build a really popular park then, block off the exit, and DROWN THEM ALL! This was one summer when I was grounded, all summer. With no internet connection.

I don't even know how I learned to spell. It was weird. It was like I always knew how to spell.

me too! we had this awesome puzzle game that was Carmen San Diego, it was a puzzle of the world and all over there were pictures of places with their titles and some of the letters were in bold and then you got this booklet with clues like "east of boreno" or "capital of venizuala" and you'd look for the place on the map and copy the bolded letters into little boxes that at the end told you where who ever it was was, and then on the map you'd see their face. it was awesome caue it was puzzles (<3333333) + mystery (<333333333) + geography (<3333333) = my favorite thing ever for like three years.
anywya, those river crossings always made me so nervous. i hated them so much.
also, you can download it for free online.

Hm, online downloads. Scary things. It didn't really teach me how to spell, just taught me how to spell CORRECTLY. Me = Private School Spelling Bee Finalist in 7th Grade thanks to carmen san diego.
I remember playing gunbound too. I miss that. The new version kills me. I hate it.

I was in some crazy spelling bee in like 3rd grade, but I STILL don't remember ever spelling anything wrong. Maybe I just purposely forgot how I did it. lol I was a pretty avid reader back then, though. I was forced to read at least a half hour a day, but I'd estimate my reading at about 3-4 hours a day. I loved The Bernstein Bears. Those were the days. I was even a member of their club.

Yeah, I was a huge reader. I would read more now, but I have a problem of reading a book halfway through, and then starting a new one. I'm in the middle of a million books, right now. They still have that TV show on of the Bearenstein bears. I love how they call each other "brother" or "sister" even the parents call the kids that. o.O

I think if I grew up hating to read, my parents would have abandoned me. My mom is a librarian, after all.

If I remember correctly, I hated Queenie. Wasn't she really snotty? I think she was. But I think they became friends later, because there are no enemies amongst bears. (Wasn't she introduced in the book The In Crowd? Why do I remember this?)
