No I'm desensitised to this sort of thing so I wasn't upset at all either. Well I've seen this family of freaks on youtube quite a lot and they actually seem quite sane compared to some of the stuff I've seen from them on there...
But to be honest because this was a more impartial well made documentary than most of the stuff I've seen I found it less funny and more, human and sad.

BoyHeroine: What I'm suppose to get angry at every asshole who hates gays and this and that.
I'm sorry but the news just whats you to respond to this crap for news. They want ratings. Just like any other show on the television
Why not report more on the new advances of the intergalactic space fart that created a black whole and is sucking off all the gays. Thats more entertaining.

Ironically, Grandaddy preacher Phelps was a Civil Rights Activist in the 50's and 60's, what with being a very outspoken lawyer and supporter of Martin Luther King.

I too found the fact that half the family seemed to be lawyers very disturbing. Who do they represent because they seem to hate everyone as well as the American law itself.

I'm sorry but the news just whats you to respond to this crap for news. They want ratings. Just like any other show on the television I don't think it has anything to do with 'ratings'. Yes, they're an interesting family to follow, but I think people have - and do - respond to this sort of thing wherever they see it; note the people driving by and yelling at the Phelpses throughout the documentary... Cheerio, Michael. xxx

i normally get really angry at these shows, but this just made me really sad for them, because there was just so much hate and anger, it felt wrong to hate these people, they just seemed completely brainwashed by that hitler-esque man. As louis so rightfully said, its possible to try and justify anything using the bible.

I only watched part of these videos but they made me rather sick....I have just recently been learning a lot about violent cults and this one seems to fit the criteria perfectly... I can see the WBC becoming the next branch dividians or something, but perhaps with slighly less extreme violence...

I really hate that. Those people on those videos, I feel sorry for them. They are so mislead. If they really believe in Jesus as Lord, they would understand "Let those who are without sin throw the first stone." and "Love your neighbor as yourself." When I see people who aren't tolerant of other people, I feel sad for them. I mean, I know that the Bible says that acting on having sex with someone of the same sex is a sin, but having those feelings and not acting on them is what you are supposed to preach. She should also know that no sin is worse than another, so by the Bible's teachings, she is in fact, on the same level as she puts homosexuals because no one is without sin, and wanting others to die is a sin. But of course, if you were really a Christian, you would know that God died for your sins, etc., and they are all washed away.
Hm, sinful thoughts of mine, but I would love to see that lady on judgement day. Also, doesn't the Bible say that the antichrist will claim to be a christian? dunno...
Sorry, I love studying religions.

Oh oh oh, I've found a Bible verse that totally discredits the Phelps!
Proverbs 17:5 “Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished
END.OF.STORY.
Yes they are discrediting themselves on OUR terms obviously, ie the decent standards of human behaviour. But I just discredited them on their OWN terms, ie a slavishly literal and fundamentalist submission to the authority of the Bible in its entirety.
Like I said I said when it comes to the scriptures these people know their shit, so its utterly pointless to debate them from a Christian perspective like they where trying to do on Jermey Kyle unless you also know your shit.
I'm just tired of them (in my eyes at least) WINNING ever debate they have on TV. To me they stay calm and smug while everyone shouts disgustedly at them.
In their minds The Bible is the only authority on ANYTHING, anything else is irrelevant so they believe they are 100% right. So the only way to beat them is beat them over the head with there own Bible (metaphorically of course, though doing it literally would be fun as well)

Hm, I would enjoy having an argument with them then. I know my verses.
I didn't go to a private Christian school with 73 students for nothing.
