Agh ! I've been, for about a month now, trying SO hard to work out the lyrics to 'Damaris', so that I can cover it without looking like a numpty.
But some of the lyrics are impossible, I swear ! For example, in the first verse, all I can hear is 'moles make mounds'?! Aaaaaaggghhhh.
Anyone help? This'll probably end up being a thread devoted to embarrassing lyric hearings. xxxxxxxxx

Here's my attempt at Hard Times lyrics:
Dig your ditches count my stiches generation justice wishes for world at war final score mediocre?? but these hard times we'll work harder, harder through these hard times I work harder, harder
Divided nation in sedation overload of information that we have grown up to ignore mediocrity applauded but these hard times we'll work harder, harder through these hard times I'll work harder, harder
For Resolution show me your revolution this battle will be won
Forced to count the hours since two towers learn to fish in those higher powers bringing guns to war keep the score ignorance is still adored and through these hard times we'll work harder, harder give me hard times I'll work harder, harder
For Revolution hard time for some resolution time for some revolution this battle will be won
Work harder, harder, harder now if they only see you with their fear and they only hear you with their pride and they only see you with their fear and they only hear you with their pride they work harder, harder, harder, harder harder, harder, harder, harder hard times.

Divided nation sounds right to me. I'm not sure about the other one though, doesn't sound exactly like what you said to me but I don't think mine is right either. Also I did write most of this before from a live version and just changed a few things from listening to the actual version twice so their are bound to be other things wrong.

Yeah, Hard Times is so confused. I always hear 'mediocrity' and I think it only comes up once. 'Divided nation' sounds right to me, too x

Here is also my attempt at Damaris from a few live versions, it's quite difficult to work out so lots of it is probably wrong.
Black rain floods the downs ? moles make mounds round your bones deep underground nobody knows, nobody knows how I wait for you summer, spring autumn, winter here perishing
?just say/gypsy? spring leap? of ? no one can say that you came from deep in my arms you belong nobody knows, nobody knows how I wait for you summer, spring Autumn, winter here perishing
My god damn Damaris killed with last kiss god damn Damaris I loved you My god damn Damaris killed with last kiss god damn Damaris I loved you I loved you
God damn these tears, this religion, for I was more, than just my father's son say something bold?? be where've you gone but nobody knows, nobody knows How I wait for you summer, spring autumn, winter here perishing
Wait for me My god damn Damaris killed with last kiss god damn Damaris I loved you My god damn Damaris killed with last kiss god damn Damaris I loved you I loved you
And now I kiss I kiss the earth (rise up, rise up, rise up now for you) I smashed my fist into the mud? (rise up, rise up, rise up now for you) rise up, rise up etc.
the black rain, floods the downs, the black rain etc.

When I listened to one version I thought it said religion and another i thought said furniture, but listening again I think it is religion, plus that makes more sense.

This is as close as I can get I'm sure some of it is wrong, especially 'on and on' Weary from the war as I stumble into fortune, Strike it real with a witch and cut off her head. With pockets full of gold, boy, I journey into town, And trade my scuffed boots for bribes and Burberry. Became the talk of the town, though a I fed the poor with the kings cutlery. Locked in towers behind walls comes some divination. Where true love was promised to me. On and on, Black Dog, burning eyes, Come carry you here to my room, Dark to one spark and I have your heart, But as quick as you come you’re always gone so soon. And now I live alone in this dirty old attic, My friends have no strength to climb up the stairs, So in the dark I spark a small box of tinder, And your love is _______ On and on, Black Dog, turning eyes, Come carry you here to my room, Dark to one spark and I have your heart, But as quick as you come you’re always gone so soon. Why does no flame here last for long? No spark rides dark for long, A thousand kisses are no Judas kicking into stop me, From trying to start a fire, Start the fire, deep down in me.

Seems right to me, thanks!
I reckon the first gap might be "remained mute", but I'm not sure about that.
